Dismantling the Patriarchy while Autocracy Rises: The Rebellion is Here!
Women have had enough!
The world is in turmoil. Countries are at war, autocracy is making a spectacular comeback, empires are falling, and men around the world are losing their collective minds.
Why is there so much anger and hatred at the moment?
Astrologically, planets and stars shift through various cosmological alignments, affecting our lives on Earth. Whether people do or don’t believe in the practice of reading the cosmos, data from the experts is pretty convincing. When certain celestial bodies align, similar events happen, time after time.
The concept of astrological ages is interesting and quite prophetic. Although there is no definitive timeline for the shift from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius, we seem to be transitioning into it now.
The Age of Pisces
Pisces is the dreamer of the Western Zodiac, perpetually attempting to live in an ideal utopia. The Age of Pisces brought forth a strong sense of faith, the hope that people would coexist peacefully in their individual spiritual ideologies. Unfortunately, instead of a strong spiritual community, religions got stronger and separated us through dogma and insistence on what was right and what was wrong. As a consequence, we are more polarized now than ever before through manmade organized religions, creating cult-like communities globally.
Much of early human spirituality was female-centric. Mother Earth was honoured, goddesses were glorified, and females were the spiritual leaders of many tribes. As women are the only sex capable of bringing forth life, they were revered, while still being seen as strong. They hunted as well as gathered, and research shows that parenting was more communal.
Children were considered a gift from the spirits, and women were Divine receptacles for bringing forth new life. Then, the boys put two and two together to reach an ugly four - they, too, contributed to the beginning of a new life. Although a woman knew she was the mother of the child she was carrying, the men could never be sure. In our modern world, where DNA testing is possible, we can now be sure of biological parentage, but not in the past. Therefore, to own the child, a man had to own and control the woman, and it is here that the oppression of women first stirred.
Despite plenty of archaeological finds depicting women in prominent positions, much of the iconography has been deemed trivial or unimportant, preferring instead to reframe these narratives in line with patriarchal values and norms.
As religion began to take centre stage, men took control of the spiritual realms, restricting any feminine influence. The worship of Mother Earth changed to Father God, and the Abrahamic Religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, were the worst offenders.
Holy wars became prevalent, and women were considered to have one place - the home. Tucked away from knowledge and power, men found themselves running things the way they saw fit, terrified of the power of the feminine. There is only one reason to restrict and control anyone, and that is fear. And they were afraid.
The Age of Pisces brought with it more terror, atrocities, and violence than ever before, and up front leading the charge were men. As the Age of Aquarius inched closer, so did the rebellion.
The Age of Aquarius
Traditionally, Aquarius is associated with democracy, freedom, humanitarianism, nonconformity, philanthropy, humanity, and rebellion.
While the Piscean Age focused on individual needs, war, machinery, money, power, and control, the subsequent Aquarian Age shifts the narrative from me to we, focusing more on consciousness, compassion, and enlightenment as opposed to religious doctrine. This Age is characterized by alignment with the rhythms of nature, peace, equality, ideas, and inspiration. Community and teamwork will take center stage as we move further into the Age of Aquarius.
Does any of this sound familiar based on the changes we are seeing in the world at present? DEI anyone?
Male Autocracy and Female Democracy
There are more autocratic governments right now than at any time in recent history. Countries considered democratic historically are becoming more autocratic, and the United States is fast becoming a fascist state.
It is no secret that during the global pandemic, female-run countries handled the crisis better than their male counterparts. Jacinda Ardern urged her government to take pay cuts to show solidarity with the citizens of New Zealand and to aid economic spending. The ministers committed to a six-month 20% pay cut.
Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, imposed more lenient restrictions than her male counterparts in France, Spain, and Italy during the first wave of COVID-19, as she tried to work together with the German citizens. The death rate in Germany was also significantly lower than the other three countries mentioned, despite having a higher population.
Taiwan, under President Tsai Ing-wen, responded exceptionally well to the pandemic crisis, setting a precedent. Prioritizing public health and safety over global trade, Tsai did an extraordinary job of containing the spread of the virus, considering the country’s proximity to the source. As a result, Taiwan has recovered remarkably well economically post-pandemic.
Women are saying ‘No!’
As democracy rises under female leadership, the next generation of women are putting their collective feet down. They are far more hesitant about marriage, and why shouldn’t they be? They’ve watched their mothers and grandmothers cook, clean, raise children, do laundry, run errands, and still hold down a job, sometimes more than one. They’ve seen them exhausted, angry or bitter, and even sick from conforming to patriarchal values.
Young women have watched fathers and grandfathers go to work, come home, and enjoy the spoils of their mothers, wives, and aunts who seem to be on duty twenty-four-seven. They’ve witnessed the women in their families making dinner, washing up, and then getting the kids ready for bed. They’ve observed the hours of work that need to be done after the children are down for the night while their husbands settle in front of the TV, in a workshop, or a “man-cave”.
It’s no surprise they’re saying no to having children.
With these models and schemas ingrained in many young women’s societal views, why would they want families of their own? Who wants to be an indentured servant to male partners or children for the majority of their lives? Greedy governments aren’t subsidizing daycares and programs that assist people with having families. Their parents lived in a world where affording a nice home, two cars, and putting food on the table from the earnings of one parent was possible, but we don’t live in that world anymore.
Governments now prefer to tax low and middle-class income earners to the hilt while allowing the uber-rich to benefit from many tax breaks, ensuring donations keep rolling into their political parties and campaigns. Instead of looking at what they are not doing to help women have children, male-run governments have instead developed a toxic rhetoric, fed directly into the jaded manosphere, about how women are toppling society by choosing not to have children.
Unfortunately, it’s no surprise to us that we are being blamed, yet again, for male-dominated patriarchal policies. It really burns the boys up when women put their feet down.
Something that has had me highly amused of late is the tired old adage making its rounds again in the hope that the “tradwife” model catches on. It goes a little something like this: women need to be protected, and men are best suited to protect us. The irony of this maxim can be found in the answer to the question, “Well, who do we need protection from?”
Men, of course!
It truly blows my mind that a species so convinced that they are superior cannot fathom the absurdity of this idea. Women need to be protected by men against men. Can they not see the problem?
Men are losing their power, and they’re terrified.
While it may not be conscious, subconsciously, the male species knows that things are shifting away from patriarchal norms, and they’re doing everything they can to regain control. What consistently happens when the loss of control is felt? Anger, hostility, and violence rear.
More than one hundred active conflicts are being waged globally right now, many in the name of masculine-dominated organized religions. Control over territory, power, resources, and money are the common motivators. While the boys are playing with their big toys, launching rockets into space, making ridiculous trucks, controlling speech, and destroying democracy, the women are donating resources to help others.
In her first 100 days in office, Mexico’s new female president, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has protected the rights of women by signing a new constitutional amendment, signed a judicial reform allowing citizens to directly elect Supreme Court justices and thousands of other judges, and presented a new security strategy which has resulted in a decline in homocides, more arrests for high-impact crimes, and large seizures of drugs and firearms.
She has spent her first one hundred days giving more rights to the Mexican people and making them safer, while her counterpart up north spent his time taking away as many rights as possible and striking fear in American citizens.
In Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s first 100 days shifted the Namibian government’s focus to food security, economic reform, infrastructure development, and international cooperation.
During Evika Siliņa’s first 100 days as prime minister of Latvia, she increased teachers’ wage rates, channelled more money into the country’s healthcare system, provided more financial support to farmers, presented a plan to increase production of renewable energy, and increased payments for vulnerable groups under Latvia’s social services system.
Kristrún Frostadóttir, Iceland’s youngest ever leader, prioritized healthcare, housing, and the economy. “Interest rates here are way too high, inflation is way too high, so how the budget is structured, how housing loans are provided, how housing supply is – this is all going to be a big focus,” she said. She has focused on shifting benefits to the “average person” rather than the elite.
Mette Frederiksen, the Prime Minister of Denmark, stood up to Trump’s bullying over Greenland, has reformed education, social policies, and agreed to reduce Denmark's territorial emissions by 70% in 2030 compared to 1990.
This list is a far cry from the military spending and corporate tax breaks that their male counterparts seem to enjoy.
Broads with Billions
Turning from state leaders to women with wealth, Dolly Parton’s philanthropic work has been lauded for decades. From scholarships to buying books for underprivileged children, from donating and raising funds for hospitals to vaccine research during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dolly has put her money into the hands of those who need it.
The Streisand Foundation, founded by Barbara Streisand, is a big supporter of women’s issues, environmental preservation, and gun control, donating over twenty-five million dollars to hundreds of organizations.
While her ex-husband, Jeff Bezos, plays with his big toys and contributes greatly to climate change, MacKenzie Scott has taken her piece of his ill-gotten gains and created a foundation which gives money to non-profits. She’s currently donated over $19 billion to 2,000 organizations since 2019.
Melanie Perkins, the founder of Canva, along with her husband, has donated more than $30 million to literacy programmes in Southern Africa and India, as well as disaster relief for earthquakes in Turkey and Morocco. Other causes supported by the couple are humanitarian aid for global disasters and charities dedicated to fighting homelessness, food and housing insecurity, and illiteracy.
Rihanna, Beyonce, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift have all put their money to good use with selfless philanthropic donations to a range of causes, from healthcare and education to women’s rights and mental health advocacy.
I’m not saying that there are no men on this planet who are not focused on helping others, but the statistics skew heavily in favour of women restoring sanity and democracy to this world. The times they are a-changing, diversity is on the rise, and the alpha-male is scared and acting out.
Unfortunately for the boys, the future has already been written in the stars, and the patriarchy is collapsing. While it is not comfortable as we ride this one out, it will be far more beneficial for the future of our planet and for humanity when equality reigns supreme. Let’s join the rebellion.
Patriarchy, your time has come; the Divine Feminine is rising.
